Meet the Artists
Anthony Neal
A Michigan native and Kendall graduate, Anthony considers himself a "regular guy" who likes to draw, paint, and "do other things." He draws people—and only people—because he claims a person is Earth's most fascinating subject and everyone can relate to a face. "The human face is one of the most important features of life. It's how I know I am me. It's how we recognize our friends and family. It's how we remember someone. It's how we perceive beauty. It's the visible representation of personality and emotion; therefore, it is one of the strongest devices to be used for art."
David Warmenhoven
David was born in West Michigan in 1967 as a typical middle-class American in a time of swirly contrasts with hippie Vietnam and outer space, laser-gun shooting, superelastic bubble plastic, cosmonaut sputnik. His major influences are memories of the Saturday morning cartoons he grew up with, street art and grafitti that surrounds him daily, and things he hears or thoughts that constantly surround him. "I like experimenting with absurd and mundane words, then applying them coherently to images to create a page in the history of my life. I want the person viewing my art to see a new twist or angle on the subject of each piece and observe what is so easy to overlook, the movement of everyday life."
Amrine Tomlinson
Currently a senior attending Kendall College of Art and Design, Amrine is pursuing a Bachelors of Fine Art in Photography and a minor in Art History. She spends a lot of time in the Leelanau Peninsula where she captures a majority of her familiar Michigan landscapes. "I believe nature is beautiful and allows moments of contemplation and serenity."
Amy Bailey
Amy moved to Grand Rapids from a small town on the East side of Michigan shortly after high school. She then went on to earn her BFA in Drawing with a minor in Printmaking from Kendall College of Art and Design. Currently working in a studio space in her home, she hopes to further enhance her skills as an artist and later apply to graduate school for her MFA in Fine Arts. "The subject matter of my work is not an easy one to digest. Inspired by my own personal experiences, I explore the power behind the human mind and body when struggling through hardship. The emphasis of my work is to recognize that pain is universal; everyone has experienced it to some degree."
